As of January 2007, Dirk Tombeur (age 46) has been responsible for Strategic Initiatives at Microsoft Belgium and Luxembourg. The goal of these projects is to achieve to breakthroughs for incubation type products/markets, such as High Performance Computing, or to advance Microsoft’s overall strategic position in highly visible areas of policy and corporate citizenship, such as Open Standards or Interoperability with competitors’ software platforms. He was Chief Technology Officer and Developer and Platform Evangelism Lead for Microsoft Belgium-Luxemburg from July 2002 until December 2006. In this role he had the overall responsibility for the strategic positioning of Microsoft’s technology portfolio in the Belux market as well as for the revenue for Developer Tools.
